I grew this for the first time this year......I started w/ a 14" ? pot from nursery w/ 2 leaves., in late may early june in Z5-6....... planted it in 50% leaf compost soil and like (Byron?) said, I watered it every other day . It got double the size of this plant shown and yes , I did fert.
I chopped it down in late fall and potted in a giant shop vac bottom it is working on its 2nd leaf now -- the first is almost 3' ! ......if it is HAPPY -- it will take up 10-15' by the end of growing season so do not plant by anything sharp OR anything you cannot transplant ! -
Wow, it's huge! Thank you Byron, it's very relaxing to listen to you talk about different kinds of plants.
