you would've gotten a larger harvest with more time. Leaves need to be yellow for full growth

I've heard about a technique to plant normal potatoes inside the barrel, gradually adding soil as the leaves grow, and when it reaches the top, the barrel is full with potatoes. Thus exchanging area for vertical space. I guessing it's not possible to do that with sweet potatoes, is it??

Hi again, i put a sweet potato in a cup long time ago and while the other i tried rotten, this one gave roots surprisingly. But now i checked it again, this one with the roots is also softened and has this very bad smell. What should i do with it? Should i still plant it (has no shoots only has roots)? Or should i throw this one away ? :/

You don't need to grow roots on the potato, grow the tuber in sandy soli. when the shoots that come up are about 18 inches long chop them off low, and plant the individual vine , it will give you lots of sweet potatoes. I have grown 50 acres of them this way, yearly

Why did you rinse off the sweet potatoes? Your supposed to keep them in a dry storage for 4 to 8 weeks for the sugars to form in the potatoes! They will NOT taste good until then!

CG Gardener, thank you for the video. I put a sweet potato in 1/2 bowl of water and it's growing like crazy inside my large window. If I am just going to grow this just for the leaves, can I just keep growing it in water or at some point do I have to put it in soil? Thanks again

hello! your vids is good. and i am your new subbie! I've got a question though. when the sweet potato, in the glass of water for a few days, do I need to change the water each time? or just let it be?

Something I have discovered is if the soil is too rich, there are very healthy vines but very few sweet potatoes. I have gotten great results without fertilizer in my fairly poor sandy soil in south Florida. For what it is worth.
