Growing Rhubarb Secret to maximum production - Care and Harvesting (Gardening Tips)
Tips, Tricks
Rhubarb is a beautiful plant. I grow it in my front flower garden. I harvest Rhubarb from May to October by following these simple steps. 1. Cut the flower shoots from the plant before it "goes to seed." 2. Pull the stalks when you harvest being careful not to break them above the root or corm.

So... I just expressed the wish to plant rhubarb in my font Garden to my parents only to be met with scorn. Is there any problem with planting it in the front as opposed to the back?

Sound advice here about rhubarb. Thanks for posting. I have always championed pulling and twisting rather than cutting, for many other crops, too (zucchini, chard and such). To get a really clean pull, move the stem sideways in the same action. Anyone worrying that they've cut their flower stems off rather than pulled them: it makes no difference. But pulling is always easier. Why try harder?

Thank you for advising about seeds on rhubarb. However I saw a video few minutes ago on this site where she said to cut the seed stalks off with a sharp knife! My husband went to do this and then we found your video so I guess my plant will now die. Why do people give such conflicting information?

Very informative video, thanks for sharing. I want to start a rheubarb patch for making wine, so will only need to harvest once a season, but will need large quantities. Any suggestions on how to get the plants to propagate?
