How I grow rhubarb, what I didn't make clear is that I lightly cover seed with soil.

They have done very well. If you look at one of my recent allotment posts you will see the plants next to the large polytunnel. They are mostly the seeds I planted in May 2012. We have ate loads. This year (2013) I sowed approx. 50 champagne rhubarb seeds. Will see how they i go next year. So from my experience growing rhubarb from seed is a great success especially with Glaskin and early red. Victoria I unfortunately never got around to planting on, purely my fault.

Well, it only took 2 days before the seedlings started to show, only two but still that's very quick.
