A very INTERESTING and IRIE Upload, thanks for sharin' this upload of what quinoa looks like and its ability to adapt to your local clime, up here on the central plateau, its semi-arid with a rainy season from june to september and while its hot here during the spring/summer, winters are mild(70s to 60s°F), so i'm thinkin' maybe quinoa would grow well over here,....when ya tell us your 'maters are growing in sand and horse manure,...that reminded me of LDSPrepper, planting yams in sand and sawdust and you should see the bumper crop of yams he got! Thumbs up and greetings to ya from Querétaro! :)

Can you compost quinoa ? even if it has saponine inside ?

We have mice and chipmunks on our tomatoes if I don't stake them. Is that not an issue for you? I envy you if not...I alway find their various entry holes they dig in. It's like CSI-Vermin..lol

the quinoa i grew was called Brightest Brilliant Rainbow blend. it comes with like a thousand seeds of all these cool colors & you can get lime green, hot pink which is the one i grew, red orange etc. only kinds i ever see in the store to buy is white & red.

ohh yeah! heres a book you might enjoy teeming with microbes by dr. elaine ingham... soil biology lady. she breaks it down. heres what i use for my compost tea... rain water or spring water... but if i have to use tap i fill a 5gal bucket up put some lemon slices & or lemon juice & let it sit in the sun for a day or 2... transmutes the flouride, chlorine & crap. okay but anyways then i add red wiggler worm castings.. hopefully ill get a red wig worm farm for compost eventually, simple sugar organic unsulphered blackstrapp molasses, & organic alfalfa pellets. sometimes i even add crushed up organic perlite, i just like the idea of adding volcanic matter in there. aerate for 2 days & it should be frothy & smell like fresh rain/sweet earth smell. oh man most amazing stuff ever... use dilute or as is, full strength. build up your soil with all those good guys.. mycorrizah funguys ;)~ fungi... umm nematodes yep all those bad boys.

Just checked out your video. I am planning to grow this. I love it and so do my chickens. I'd like to see more how they turn out. I live in Florida too.

Oh yeah, let the weeds be! Mulch over the top, and they will rot back into the soil, providing more nutrients. Researching mulching on google :)

Just a tip, compost does its thing quicker if you have it in a air tight something, then when the sun hits the tub, the veggie scraps break down quicker. If it's out in the open like that, the heat doesn't have as much as an effect. I saw on one blog that you can put any scraps in a blender and make compost smoothie, and chuck that straight on your garden. Nice garden too! Looks healthy and lush!

Thanks for the great video Rasta Rick! By the sounds of your name, I think you would really appreciate the garden in my basement.lol

Would it be bad for cherry tomato if you put a stick to lean on? So that the tomatoes don't pull the plant close to ground.

i wish more black people would be like you

Put some waxed paper under the tomatoes on the ground so they don't rot. Also, everyone, check out the Back To Eden movie explaining how to use wood chips to naturally and without work improve and make more soil! Very exciting. Back to Eden!
