I absolutely Love your videos. The first time I grew potatoes, I covered the area with news paper, composted manure, & blood & bone. Layed the potatoes on top & covered with straw and more composted manure. I watered it well and a few months later I had 12 lbs of potatoes. I was only experimenting, but it worked!

Hey man this is actually called the bucket method not the trench method. The trench method is the original method of digging long rows(trenches) in the ground and growing them that way.

I grow potatoes just for the baby ones. As soon as the flowers start I big around to for the little ones. They are the best. At $3.00 a pound this is a big savings.

You didn't mention if you drilled out holes in the bottoms of the rope buckets to allow the water to drain. I couldn't see the bottoms of the rope bucket you showed to see if it had drainage holes cut into it or not. Do the rope buckets need drainage holes placed into them?
