Growing Passion Fruit In The Garden
Tips, Tricks
I have tried for the last 3 years to get passion fruit to come up in our garden. I tried seeds which is near impossible unless you have perfect conditions. I learned that the best way to grow passion fruit is to transplant existing roots of the plant and then wait. FINALLY we have liftoff! Passion Fruit (Passiflora incarnata) grows wild here in the ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. It is sometimes called the MayPop. The fruit is delicious and amazing to taste. The leaves can also be made into a tea for those who have insomnia and suffer from light sleep. These grew like weeds all around my house in Hawaii. Would hear a dozen or so a day fall from the 20' - 40' vines, through the trees. They would produce fruit throughout the year.

Passion flowers grew along the back fence of my moms house. It was a summer treat to pick the fruit and eat the seed pulp.... and the flowers were like orchids to me as a kid. Best wishes on getting a good strong plant and bountiful crop.

I didn't know about propagating by the roots instead of the seeds. I tried the seeds once and got nothing, so now I need to go on the back roads, take a shovel, and see if I can find some to dig up!
