There are several ideas to try
pick the best variety - there are many available.
grow them in the right environment - some such as oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and may be placed outside (I discovered these and the reasons they work from gregs mushroom grower website ) -

hi, i live here in the Philippines. I know there are mass producers of mushroom here that uses rice hay. But I'm not aware if there are products here like your mushroom kit for those who want to grow mushroom in different containers in our backyards. Is it possible to order from you, and how much is your mushroom kit? Thanks

After you consume the first flush do you put the tarp back over the bed (in between flushes?)
-
Very interesting video! I'm curious with a bed like this and in shade can you produce mushrooms year round?
-
The seeds in the hay have a lot of nitrogen which encourages contamination. Check the local feed stores for a bale of straw.

Can I use hay instead of straw?
-
Yes, we have grown on dried leaves! Be sure they are thoroughly dehydrated before using them (even though you will be wetting them when you install your bed, fully drying them first is necessary) and if you can, shred them first it will work much better.
