Growing Milkweed Plants To Attract Beneficial Insects!!!!!
Tips, Tricks
I grow milkweed to attract Monarch Butterflies. However, I have learned that growing them have added beneficial insects such as bees, hummingbirds, wasp and other smaller bugs to my garden. I also get praying mantis and ladybugs. Growing this plant will be a mainstay in my garden every summer. Since it's Perennial I can be rest assure it will come back every year. Wine Barrels and Containers are a good way to grow it.

Very cool, man! I grow a native garden which contains only species native to the US, including a few species of milkweed. It's all about helping the butterflies, bees, birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles! I do like the Tropical Milkweed you show off in this video. I may have to try it out some time. If you're in an area that can grow Meadow Blazing Star, do it! Monarchs are addicted to it.

Someone was just talking to me about getting some milkweed plants but said they were very expensive. Have any of your garden buddies grown them from seed that you know of? Great video...I would love to have 2 of these plants in my garden !!

I planted two varieties earlier this year. My puppy dug one up, destroying it but the other is about to bloom. My remaining is called, "hairy balls" Sorry, I didn't name it that and yes, that is its real name. ANYHOO, lol, Martine, I just uploaded my help needed video. Says it uploaded, but I sure as heck don't see it. More technical difficulties on my end. Great.

I've grown milkweed for years. It's what the Monarch caterpillars eat. When the caterpillars start eating they will eat all the leaves on those plants and you will see the caterpillars getting larger and larger then they will cocoon. When it happens believe me you will know it. It's so amazing! Check the bottom side of the leaves for the eggs. Good luck I hope it happens for you soon. I've had up to 30 of them on my plants! It's a beautiful thing.
