In zone 6, keeping citrus trees alive in the dead of winter can be a challenge. When the trees don't get full sun, they don't like a lot of water; however, you'll also have problems if you don't water enough. Finding this balance is certainly a challenge that took me a few years to figure out. Lets take a look to see how the trees are doing this winter of 2016. What kind of lighting do you use when you bring them indoors?

I Love the setup. However, I would buy a large tray . something that long, wide and deep. That way you can place all the pots inside of it and water . this will allow you too water without worry about rather the water will overflow in the trays. Whatever water is left, the plants will take in what it needs. Keep up the good work.

In January of this year I planted a bunch of clementine seeds after watching your kumquat video. I did everything you said and ended up with 6 plants. I gave 3 to friends and all of those died but my 3 are doing well. Each are now about 6-8" high. I had water bottle "greenhouses" on the plants then took them off during the summer but realized it was likely too cold here in Canada so now have 2L soda bottle "greenhouses" on them. A couple occasionally drop a leaf but the third is getting nice and bushy but all are alive. Not sure if I'm supposed to feed them anything but I keep them on my window sill in the kitchen with my ginger plant and they seem to be doing ok even if they are much smaller than your plants.
