Growing Jerusalem Artichokes in pots
Tips, Tricks
I've never grown Jerusalem Artichokes before, so I'll start them off in pots - if they need more space I'll pop them into a raised bed.

I completely missed planting these this year.
Looking forward to seeing how they turn out... -
I grew these last year and am growing this year a bunch more, it takes some time for it to sprout but once it starts it shoots up and drinks a lot, then just place it in a sunny location and harvest once it dies back.
Homegrown Jerusalem Artichokes are tender and have great taste but careful- they don't call them Fartichokes for nothing ;)
Subed ya.
Cheers. -

These are very popular and now in season here in California. Although we do not grow them they are delicious... more nutritious and fiber filled than potatoes yet a nice substitute. They multiply quickly and grow quite tall. It will be interesting to watch yours as I have never seen them in pots. Hope you and your family enjoy them!

Yes they are tall plants mine get to be about 7 - 8 ft tall. In the ground they need no looking after at all just dig up what you need when you need it and treat them like potatoes. Once you have them in the ground you will always have them, miss one tuber when you harvest and it grows. Liz

Stu that is what I was thinking put it on its side it will know what way is up. I would like to try them one day. If I would find them in the store like you did I would give it a go. I am a little concerned about the invasiveness of them. Best wishes Bob.

I've got some in pots right now. I'll soon be planting them in ground. Looking forward to a fall harvest! The thing about these is that if you leave any little pieces they will come back year after year.
