Growing Jalapeno Peppers In Containers - Indoors Or Outdoors in Arizona In this video, I am transplanting my jalapeno peppers plants into a container. I planted them from seed on March 4th and I used organic seed starting mix. It took 11 days for the jalapeno seedlings to emerge and once above the soil, I started taking them outside in the sun for a few minutes every day. When the night temperatures got up to 65 degrees, I kept them on the patio overnight. Whenever I had my jalapeno seedlings in the sun, I kept an eye on them the whole time. Here in Arizona, we are much closer to the equator, so the sun, even in March, is much more intense. When the first true leaves (basically, the second set of leaves) developed (which was close to April 1st), I transplanted my jalapeno seedlings into larger cups (the red cups in this video). During the month of April, I started to increase the amount of time I left my young jalapeno plants in the sun, but still kept an eye on them. I watered them every 3 days. Once a week, I would water them withe 1 tbsp of Epsom salt deluded in 1 gallon of water. The following week, I would water them one of the times with 1/2 tbsp of Liquid Organic Alaska Fish fertilizer deluded in 1 gallon of water. And as far as watering your jalapeno plants, it really depends on your specific area. But my way of deciding if I should water them or not, is to simply lift the cup and based on its weight figure out if they are dry or not. You can also poke your finger in to the soil and feel if the soil is wet or dry. Jalapeno peppers do like to go trough dry stages and don't need to be soaking in water all the time. I also always bottom water my jalapeno pepper plants. So today, April 30th, I transplanted my jalapeno plants into a container which I will keep outside on the patio.
