Sweetheart, your shirt is greener than that sad pot of basil.

I love your videos and thank you for them. It is really too bad people are so self-righteous and arrogant that they feel the need to leave rude and useless comments wasting time and space.

Hi Yolanda, I have basil planted in a pot in my garden but snails & grasshoppers are eating the leaves; how can I stop the bugs from eating my herbs?
-
hmmmm good soil. good compost. i would have never thought to do that
-
Oh Yeah !!

Where's the information on "how to grow basil"? The title is misleading. I was expecting some useful information. :o
-
incredibly un informative. all that info was soo vauge. what about what about flowering plants? what about which leaves to pluck that wont hurt the plant?

Thank you! I live in TX and the sun and heat are intolerable. I lost most of my basil last year, purple ruffle, Thai, globe etc. The people in these video's have NO idea how hot the sun is. As soon as I removed my opal and ruffle purple basil to only limited amounts of sun it flourished. They should talk about what region your in before suggesting what kind of sun light should be used! Thanks you proved my experiment and point!!!

@humynism ...at 0:17 you can clearly see that the basil is dicolored and shriveled. A clear sign of too much bright, direct sunlight. NEVER put basil in direct sunlight. The basil I'm growing has large, perfect leaves. Nice, even green, all over. What she has in her hands I would never use in my kitchen. Look at the video....that basil looks horrible..!

Basil is a vegetable, not a herb. Not many people know this. And NEVER put basil in bright, warm direct sun light !! It will wilk and die in a matter of hours. Trust me...I learned the hard way. Lost a lot of basil in just 5 hours. 3 weeks of loving care down the drain...... A bit of direct sun light in the morning and evening. In between it must be shaded. That way you get leaves as big as your palm.

Not mine. I try growing it, Only could grow thai basil. The italian version, no.

What kind of expert is this? Basil is tricky. It'll bolt if too warm and it'll taste terrible. The soil is very important too. Trimming off the flower heads is essential or the leaves won't get what they need to taste good.

No offense, but you could have replaced the word "basil" with almost any herb for this video - you mentioned nothing specific to basil. You didn't mention pinching off the flowers which, I think, is the most important part of growing basil. This could have been an audio file since you showed nothing. Appreciate the effort though.
