Did you know you can grown your own green onions (also called spring onions) from the leftover stem cuttings. This is a Time-Lapse of some green onion cuttings growing over a 10 day period. 24 hour lighting was provided using a LED desk lamp. The results are interesting. If you want to get rid of the scars if you are growing them just because you feel like it, next time the stalk dies an regrows it will have the point :). If you cut it again though it will get that scar because you injure the little shoot inside ready to grow once the main stalk dies.

when you think they are ready to harvest, do you just cut the leaves and leave the stem for reregrowth, or do you take out the whole onion? Awesome video!
