My bottle gourds and snake gourds are growing well, I think. The snake gourd plants were growing well and I got about 8-10 snake gourds but now the flowering seems to have slowed down. There are very few flowers. I use Espoma organic fertilizer about once a month and organic bone meal. What can I do to increase flowering in snake gourds.
The bottle gourds bloom at night so I have not been able to manually pollinate it so the flowers do not get fertilized I think and many of them just drop off the plant.
I have also planted red pumpkins(kaddu) and seem to be having the same issues. I have harvested 2 pumpkins but now there are very few flowers. I have 5 plants and some days there are only 1-2 male flowers and no female flowers seem to be developing. Last year I was very successful with the red pumpkins without any fertilizing at all. This year couple of times, the tiny female flowers have turned yellow and fallen off. Thanks for your help. -
can we sow these seed directly

Thanx a ton for telling how and when to do the pollination. though I heard of it, never actually knew how to do that.

Any tips on germination. 10+ days and no seedling.. The seeds seem to be inside a hard shell. Should we break the shell before sowing?
