have you ever grown gingers? neededfew tips
-
Guess I need to get my garlic planted :) I think I will try to get mine out soon. My garlic is just some store bought garlic that is a bit small but I figure that I can try it :)
-
I planted some of my garlic in a fabric raised bed too. The whole bed is piled up with leaves ,on it and around it, ready for winter. I have shoots coming up and they are still green after three frosts. I am excited to see how they turn out next summer. I used store bought garlic as well.

Hey CaliKim have you tried growing walking onions yet? They've got a really really strong flavor, inspire walking dead jokes (like naming one Merle), and they're kind of amusing to watch as they march along the soil in a manner very similar to runners.
I've been trying to get them to grow in pots, but i have trouble getting the bulbils to overwinter and fall around here is usually when they show up. -
How do you know when it's ready to harvest?

How much deep pot we need for garlic

i keep trying to grow garlic and ginger but some teenie tiny wormlike bugs keep killing them :(

when can I harvest my garlic as I live in southern ontario canada?
-
I'm in zone 7 and I planted my garlic the third week of October. I am already seeing green sprouts popping thru the soil. Is this OK? Do I just need to mulch them heavily to protect them through the winter? Or should I cut off the green sprouts?

Thanks you one more question is the garlic old if it brown
-
I bought some pink lady and white garlic. First time.
-
what kind of soil do we use in containers? I bought organic potting soil. Hopefully that it's good enough.

Thanks Kim for another great video. I will be planting organic garlic this week. I'll buy garlic bulbs this week at the coop because they sell organic garlic. Of course I'll mulch it since I live in a cold weather area. It's worth taking a chance that I'll have garlic growing in the spring that I can harvest. Love it!

I will experiment in the colder climate of the UK. Thanks for the tip.

Liked and comment. Didn't know garlic was so easy. I will add it to my list

I planted a head of garlic in September this year and I can't wait to harvest them in the spring! x3

Hi Kim, Thanks again for helping us new gardeners. How many gallon size is your purple smart pot?
How many garlic did you plant? Thanks again for all your knowledge. -
I've planted garlic before and when I harvest it not only do I have the head of garlic but these little bulbs with a thicker skin around the head. if by any chance I leave them in the ground, they'll sprout and grow . so now, instead of planting my garlic bulbs I just plant these baby ones. Has anyone experienced that? I've looked for info on this and can't find it anywhere. what are these smaller garlic bulbs around the head?
