I loved your video! I am hoping you can help with my seed growing conundrum! I have recently planted Cimicifuga Racemosa, and the directions call for 71degrees for 6 weeks, -4 for 6-8 weeks, then 50 after that. All inside of a plastic bag until sprouting. I typically get mold forming on the dirt during the initial period. I am bottom watering. How do i prevent the mold, while keeping the seeds moist? Should i use something like Gibberelic Acid to try to shorten the germination time?

Is it a perennial?

Ive tried seeing if there was any videos on the matter when you video was the only helpful one so far :) Thank you :)

Hi. Great video. Is mulching bad after planting seeds on the ground? I've planted a combination of perennial seeds and bulbs in my garden and wondering if it'd be bad putting a mulch over them before the winter and before they start showing up.
-
I purchased seeds for them.. never collected them however.. they do form tubers .. that can be saved.. I haven't at this time done either.. sorry
-
how do you collect seeds from dahlias i thought they only had bulbs
-
some seeds need light for germination, some like darkness.. growth depends on care .. you can find lots of this information on my blog.. with grow times and light requirements.. just go to picketfencegreenhouse.info

I have never done seeds before.Where do you put them after they are in the trays? Do they need sunlight? How long till you see growth?
-
both are easy to grow.. beans probably easier however...
-
there are many.. search for your zone on google.. I know hibiscus , coreopsis, grasses, are a good start..
-
Thanks for this. :) Do you know which perennials work best for hot weather or tropical climate?
-
Hi, you can do a search of my videos, I may have a few, but haven't did many as when the time came to transplant I was out in the greenhouse busy as ever..:)
-
many of the hard shelled seeds especially in the morning glory family should be soaked .. some seeds need a cold treatment as if they are outside in the winter then when spring comes they germinate outside , we are just mimicing this.. when in doubt google it.. you can find all answers usually or get a book that is has something to do with growing from seed..:)
-
have fun growing it is very rewarding.. as you will find out.. or are finding out..right now I am in my greenhouse season.. lots to do and transplant.. funniest part of growing.. :)

I've just started growing herbs and spices and fruits and vegetables. For the first time in my life I'm actually growing some kind of plant and watching it's development. They are like pets to me. I care for them just the same. You've made me realize I need seeds from fruit etc. instead of discarding but buying them, and to collect and grow them in a big box (indoors) So thank you. It's a process. But It saves alot of money on groceries. When you know how to harvest every year, month or week.
