Neighbor threw out a 6 footer in a broken pot. Just replanted it and glad you touched on it dropping leaves because if it did that without me knowing I might have thought it was dying. Have it next to a window that doesn't get direct sun ever on a lazy susan so I can turn it to water. Passes out after moving it to it's final home.
-
I'm confused. First you say not to move the plant around and then you say you move it around from the original place in the winter, no offense but which is it?
-
The light requirements mentioned here are confusing. You recommend FILTERED LIGHT and then go on to say avoid INDIRECT LIGHT.
Filtered (ie: through a sheer curtain or if a tree blocks direct sun from a window) AND indirect light are both fine.
Ficus does not like DIRECT LIGHT. (ie: no sun)
Set your ficus back 8+ feet from a south or west-facing window and you'll be good. In a north or east window it can be closer.
I've been growing ficus for 40 years and this light rule has always worked. As P. Allen says, water only when the top 1" feels dry and your ficus should be happy. -
yes i did thanks. I just moved mine into the bath tub and put lukewarm shower on to give it a good soak.

Thnx for these information. We had a huge ficus tree, grown over 12 years and they are just amassing. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during the war together with our house :(

I don't know about indoor Ficus trees but outdoor Ficus trees do indeed flower! They have Ficus trees in the city of Athens, Greece and they flower every summer and then bear fruits. They thrive in the city and the flowers are very pretty just fyi
