thank you I love basil, and am doing the same thing, although this video, makes it easier by watching your technique, and building confidence.... cheers.

noticed that in other videos they say to pinch then pull but you're doing the complete opposite very clean cuts are those other people just wrong?

Hi, basil has to have sun light direct? or far from sun but some light, bcse in my kitchen has sun direct, and I don't know if sun is gonna burn the plant, your video is really good, I will try if you can answer my question. Thank you very much. Susana

Thank you! You're a good teacher.

Great tutorial! Anything special about the potting soil you're using? I keep seeing instructions warning that it should be 100% peat free, but nobody ever explains why.

Root in H2O, never touch ur bare skin with chemicals. If you want to root with hormone, dip in H2O then dip into hormone, tap the excess, then plant it. Liked the video.

which kind of pesticides we should use during planting

Just put the basil in water for a few weeks. Let it grow roots 2 inches long. Plant in soil, enjoy.

My cuttings always die :(
-
do you have to use that powder and just use nothing?
-
I understand rooting cuttings. but your already had roots once you separated the stems. why not just plant those. they would have become productive quicker.
-
Thanks! Never thought about doing this with my basil
-
Is there a plant that this will not work with?
-
Very interesting, thank you for sharing

Dont put rooting hormone all over your fingers, just put the tip of the plant into the powder and shake off excess, it is not good to breathe this power or put it all over your hands, but i didn't know you could take cuttings from basil, so thanks

Mine rooted just fine in water, fantastic root system in about 2 weeks (we didn't have a lot of sun.. in Texas).
-
Thank you for the informative and thorough video! I wish there were more videos like this. I can't wait to start planting.

anyone who has grown lots of basil knows the problem with taking cutting of basil. The maturity of the basil shoot will continue. This means that the shoot will flower quickly. And flowering basil is not the best product. Thus, its useless to propagate basil this way except to practice cloning technique. They do root very easily and are forgiving of technique learning.

Basil is very prolific. You only need to put your cuttings into water and they will root in a week or so. No rooting hormone or potting soil is needed!!! Don't waste your money.
