Very close to my House there are a place where the air plants grow everywhere for example on the walls and trees
-
Lol look at the fish. They think hes gonna feed them.

I watched a couple other air plant videos on here and one grower said only about half of his plants make babies and only some flower. guess its hit or miss.
-
The babies are called PUPS. and you arent supposed to twist them off till they are almost the size of the mother plant
-
If have mine in a 2" tall glass container , surrounded by river rocks to help support the plant upright.
-
But thx for teaching me how the heck to figure out this airplant from Walmart

I grow my air plants mounted on Mopani wood, stones, and six of them are on a resin aquarium decoration shaped like a hollow log. You can find nice pieces of Mopani and Malaysian driftwood at the pet store in the aquarium or reptile aisle. These woods have lots of grooves and pockets where plants can be attached. I glue them on with E 6000 glue. I apply the glue to the bottom leaves, not to the base of the stem. My tap water is very hard, so I don't dip my plants. Instead, I spray them daily with a pressure sprayer filled with reverse osmosis water. I give them a thorough soaking, making sure that every leaf is thoroughly soaked. I also soak the driftwood to encourage roots to form. Once a week, I mist them with a weak solution of liquid African violet food. The window gets only a couple of hours of direct sun daily, and the area with my air plants gets none so I augment it with a couple shop lights hung about forty inches above the plants. The lights come on at sunrise and go off at sunset and I reset the timer once or twice a month, so the plants get a seasonal variation and the room has a night time temperature in winter of about 62 degrees(F) and a day time rise to about 72. Once a crown has bloomed, it stops growing and sends out offsets. Then, the offsets bloom the next year and send out offsets of their own. I order my plants from E Bay. They are really inexpensive and have a lot of really odd kinds. you can even get Spanish moss if you have room for it.

Lol Bill, you're adorable. You're half a world away, in a totally different climate, and still my favourite gardening youtuber :)

I bought a air plant at Walmart and I have mine hanging from my walls. But mine is like glued down to moss? And I'm just confused if I'm suppose to dunk the glass that has the plant in it, in the water? Pleasee help

i love the color of your walls! what color is that?

I'd put some gravel mixed with peat moss or coco peat under my plants. I like your approach of putting the plants in the aquarium because I am almost sure that's very healthy sort of water for them. You could use a spray bottle to mist them as well, and that won't cause any rot either. Wedging them or tying them onto driftwood is supposed to work well. The two of your favourites are called Tillandsia Bulbosa, I think. The little ones - I don't know - probably Tillandsia Funckiana or something.
I don't have any at present, but they are on their way, to be sure! I'll share that with you when I get them. Great video, and I like your down-to-earth style very much too! -
Where can i get orbs like yours???? I need them! Love the video!
-
I would love to know what you used to suspend and hold the glass from the ceiling please.

Hello Bill. I'm a long time viewer and subscriber but this is the first time I've written to you.
I have a medusea, bulbosa and another I can't remember the name of. My question is when they need water I water about once a week, when I do the second watering of my orchids, I water them with the orchid grow fertilizer and ultra mix. My thinking was "at least they're getting some kind of nutrients and fertilizer, better than nothing". Will this hurt my air plants in the long run? Thanks for your time, Nina -
Thanks!
