Growing A Heirloom Organic Tomato Plant Indoors Year Round #1 Fresh Tomatoes In My Living Room
Tips, Tricks
I've been wanting to do this now for over 2 years, lets see how I do trying to grow an Heirloom Organic Tomato plant in my living room for fresh great tasting tomatoes in the middle of our very cold short day winters. From what I've read tomato plants can grow up to 3 years in the right conditions, so I might get 3 winters worth of fresh tomatoes.

I realize this video is old stuff but I also will be starting a couple tomatoes to grow inside over winter, one the sweet 100 and another one that has large tomatoes, time will tell.
-
How are the tomatoes doing now?
-
FYI, green tomatoes can kill dogs, so keep Dug away from them! lol They're similar to grapes where sometimes it's fine and other times their kidneys shut down.

i heard you can use a q-tip to pollinate by touch each flower with the q-tip. never actually did this but heard it works -
I am just beginning to start my garden at my new house. I am wondering if you can post a series of video's on how you harvest and store your harvest?

Now that the sun is getting lower in the sky the plant is getting a lot of sun, I'm going to do an update this coming week, huge explosion of flowers and unfortunately I've got blight so I have to spray it with baking soda this week.
-
how much light is it getting?
-
So far Kim the plant has been in lack of sun shock in the house, but the sun is getting lower every day so the living room is getting brighter, the first set of flowers died so far, but a 2nd set just started. Don't know the type, it's a Tomato weed from my garden this spring, from last year's plants that took over my garden this spring. Last year I planted Moscovich & Black Krim, could be a cross

What an interesting, fun, experiment this will be! I will definitely be following its progress. What type of tomato are you growing?
-
It's so much more peaceful

I looked at a lot of place before I found this gem, it was hidden off the road and I actually drove by it for over 5 years and didn't even know it was there.

nature is the only way

lucky guy, how did you find a house next to a lake, thats what im trying to get my parents to do, i live in london uk and want us all to move to the country side and life a self sufficiient life like you, everybody needs to do this
-
Yes, give the flowers a light tap in the late afternoon when the flowers are wide open
-
Actually I had to google it and it turns out you can tap the flowers by hand or use a sonic tooth brush to replicate a bumble bee. So far I'm just tapping the flower lightly with my finger in the late afternoon when it's wide open. There are many videos on YT people have put up on this topic and all I've found so far are pretty much the same method.

yes, my question, how do you pollinate and would you show us how you do it when you do it? I would be very interested in this, I would like to grow some tomatoes inside.
-
