Thanks for the video!
I have a few Haas Avocado Trees that I've grown from seed that are closing in on a year old now and are already 3+ feet tall. I'm growing them for fun because here in North Texas, we get a freeze every year. I was finally planning on putting them outside since they are getting so BIG but didn't want to kill them! I think I will grow them in BIG pots on my patio so that I can move them in and out during different seasons.

You guys gotta go to Stack Exchange; Gardening and Landscaping. This is one of the best forums for gardening, plants and learning about the natural world right outside your door. There are some amazing gardening veterans for advice! Great site to find questions to anything instead of tripping through the internet not knowing what you are looking for...

You didn't mention how often you changed the water

bamboo skewers are better.smaller, and sharper.

could you add compost instead of dirt?

that was nice healthy roots...i tried doing the same. it starting spliting, I saw the little white long root come out....so i started addind soil (miracle grow) slowly so i wont shock it & I think thats exactly what happened. i check it to see if the root is growing normal but i noticed it got ripped like cut off....it doesnt look good 😳 its from those little avocados. i dont think those roots are large enough to handle 3 sticks, lol. but very nice detailed video u did there.....How big is the plant know? it looked so healthy too....

I've been growing my avocado seed for at least two months now. the stem is at least 10inches long! but still not leaves. Im just now starting to get a few little leaves. I wondering if you have any suggestions? Maybe more sunlight? Maybe its my zone? I live in NY.

I did this with toothpicks, however I noticed I did it upside- down, so I took out the toothpicks and replaced them on the top. Will this harm it's growth.

You're not going to get avocado's off of a seed grown plant for at least 10 years. You should consider grafting a fruit bearing avocado graft to your new plant after its grown for 5 to 6 months minimum. below is a link to a great grafting video.

All these videos about avocado trees and very well, but you don't really need all these time wasting contraptions. I threw a few of them on my organic compost heap and a few months later there were leaves poking through the surface. All I had to do was carefully dig them out and pot them - easy! Doesn't even matter which way up the stones lay, plants no where the surface is, they all do. And - I live in Cornwall UK, not the warmest climate...

Oh my gosh! That seed grew really fast and very nice. I just put my seed on the window shelf, hope it does as nicely as yours did. thank you for sharing.
Cheers and thanks again -
I always use avocados in my smoothies and for facials. Thanks!

Hello, is it ok to keep the skin on the seed or should it be taken off before soaking it?

You must have had your answer RE grafting since your posting this video, but just found this one explaining the WHYs of grafting, the HOWs, etc.

Thanks for your posting. Might not be able to get fruits up here in Quebec City, but I'll have a nice time trying to get to the same result as yours. :-) Best regards! -
Does that seed have GMOs because it is growing really fast.

nice video.

Can u send me a seed that big?
