Do you think that 76 F is hot for a greenhouse? What temp do you require?
-
how much did you pay for the plastic and what's the size of the green house

unfortunately the refrigerated ac will take the moisture out of the air, that is probably why it does not seem to be working. Your misters are working against the ac. Evaporative coolers are the only means to cool down a humid environment. I use one that rolls around with a water reservoir built in it. $169 bucks at Lowes. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your videos. I learn and am inspired each time I tune in. Keep it up!

also wet the shade cloth or drip on it

Wow, your plants are all so healthy!!! love the innovation. Any reason you haven't invested in an inline fan?

Great video, and great tips. I have been wondering how long to run my misters and foggers. My foggers are about 15 inches from the roof and the misters are about 70 inches from the floor. We gave it our first test run today. (no plants in the greenhouse yet) working out the kinks. Almost there. Your tips help. Thanks for the help.

Could you give more information on the thermometer turns the fans on

Have you ever seen the diy video on the air conditioner? It was with a cooler and some dry ice and a fan. You can also use a frozen milk jug of water if no Dry ice is available. It was a good idea.

Brad, make a light frame somehow to raise the shade about 8" to 1' above the roof. Your shade cloth is blocking the light, but not the heat. The space between the shade cloth and the roof will allow the heat to ventilate away. I also read some articles about reflective shade cloth that might work better than the more available black shade cloth. Anyway, the space really helps.

Brad thanks for your help with N.Alata, I did stop at the garden center just in case there was a Alata , no such luck sorry DaveC

Hey a swamp cooler is a great idea Brad. I grew up in Vegas and we used them to cool our homes.
-
I'd hang some wet towels or a wet sheet in there Brad.

This is somewhat helpful on my plans for my terrarium although in a much smaller scale of your greenhouse.

I feel your pain. Here in Bakersfield,CA, the daytime temp is 100 to 108 degrees. It was very difficult to keep my small greenhouse cool, I also had to install a cooler. How do you think your Draculas will do with a warm day every once in awhile?

Hi Brad, Where live I am lucky that I can have my orchids in a bush house, Summer & winter. temps range from average 32 in summer to 5 in winter ( night). ie: the bush hose is just covered in shade cloth (70% on top,50% on the sides), There are some growers here do have a glass house like yours, and they beat the heat by having shade cloth about 1 to 2 feet above the roof. We can get up to 38 degrees sometimes in January , February. In winter I do not need to heat even though the night time temps can get low. Luckily in winter we get to 20 + most days

I see you have à hard job ....the greenhouse can you open white Windows ..... I have mine orchid open under the shade and the blowing .... Good luck

That is brutal heat my friend ! I hope everything makes it !

if you make the water in the fogger very cool it will help bring the temperature Dow,you can freeze a bottle of water .and then put it in there.also palm ,from palm trees, over your roof, excellent isolation system,. or try hey .Good luck..How is the baby?

I'm in Oklahoma City and it hit 100 today which is not at all unusual for us. In fact, in 2011 we had 2 weeks straight over 105 ! I've had a water cooler for the last 5 years and my solarium has never gone over 86 with the humidity about 80%. Of course I should state that I have a decked roof that has three 2'x4' insulated white skylights. I also have double wide insulated windows on the east and west and the whole south side is six 3'x6' clear pane windows which I shade in winter. I suppose if I had a roof that was totally exposed to sunlight and even if I used 60% shade cloth the water cooler may not be enough. I'm wondering if you ever had considered a water cooler? They are very cheap to run. I takes care of the humidity and air circulation. I admit I also have 2 ceiling fans that stay on 24-7. But I don't run the swamp bucket during the night. Wouldn't a swamp bucket help you with your situation?
