Jaison' i'm swapping from spur to cane pruning this season ( now ) just a little vineyard with chambourcin , pin/ n, cab/sab, syrah, merlot, and some chard , some vines are new as i had a hell of a job trying to field graft over to he variety I wanted, the R/S was R/G
The chambourcin grows on it's own roots and is proving to be very disease resistant, most of that is 9 years old , I cut off the spur cordons in the winter just gone ' most have a cane that I kept lower down on the trunk . have you a video on how to start off a fresh with the cane pruning system ... robbie -
Thanks for posting this. Best wishes from Nelson NZ.

Good vid well explained and now I have a lot of pruning to do. Thanks
-
if you cut too close to the 2nd bud like you did, you kill the bud off. you're supposed to cut well above the bud you want to keep, close to the 3rd bud in this case.

Thank you Jaison. Great vid and I'll now be able to attack last years growth with a lot more confidence as a result of watching you.

Hi Jason, Thank you very much for this video. I have a few overgrown grapes in my garden in Warsaw, Poland, and I will follow your advice trying to bring them back in the proper shape in March. You did a good job!

Thnx for the video, I just wonder why you kept one old branch and one new one...the left one was 2 years old you kept, but the right one you've cut and replaced with a young branch!
