Here I am theorising that the humble African Boxthorn (Lycium ferocissimum) can be used as an excellent rootstock for scions of Goji Berry (Lycium chinense) and Lycii Berry (Lycium barbarum) to be grafted onto. (BTW Lycium australe isn't a shrub I am familiar with. It doesn't grow near me--not that I know of, anyway.) Warning: Never eat any wild plant without first checking with a local expert. Please seek medical and botanical advice before ingesting Lycium berries of any sort.
