GGC - 32 - World Famous Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia
Tips, Tricks
Part 28 of our road trip across Northern Quebec and Eastern Canada. After deboarding the 16 hour ferry from Newfoundland, we drove from North Sydney to Cape Breton Island. We then took two days to enjoy the magnificent ocean views while driving the World Famous Cabot Trail!

Point of clarification that you don't need to pay to just drive through. But if you stop and use any of the park services such as the trails etc than yes you have to pay.

Here is a link to a video a couple of friends and myself made on march 6th, 2011 while driving across the top of North Mountain on the Cabot Trail. I thought you might like to see the contrast between your video and the one we made. I hope you enjoy seeing the difference a few months can make.....lol.

Long wanted to do this trip. Now even more. Thanks

Great and beautiful video. Thank you for posting. I look forward to seeing some of your other videos. By the way I was in Nova Scotia the first time I heard the song "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon.

Great video guys. .. Next time you tour our trail you must do it in the autumn when the leaves are full of colors, it's most impressive then. ;)

You are not on the mane land it is Cape Breton not the mane land
-
I enjoyed your videos through Newfoundland and Labrador, thanks so much for sharing your adventures!

Did you miss Meat Cove? Right at the upper tip of the Cabot Trail?
About 5 +/- miles off the trail on dirt road but well worth the time and effort to get there.
There's a campground (or used to be) that I stayed at when I took my moto up that way.
You camp right on the edge of the cliff!!
Truly seems like the end of the world! -
I like your channel, nice long videos, travel sights & history, great personalities. I'm looking for a van like yours similar age. Thanks, safe travels..

The first time on the Cabot trail we just drove it. The next time I did a little more research. At 16:58 - 17:14 the ridge on the right is the Skyline Trail https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_Trail_%28Cape_Breton_Highlands_National_Park%29 worth the walk. Work it out so you have nice weather and bring water and food. Enjoy the height with your feet firmly on the ground. Great driving Paula I know how steep those roads are.

So glad you enjoyed our little Island... thank you for sharing... and yes, she was quite brave driving, ohhh Smokey need a smokey, yup
-
Poor Paula! I'm guessing that driving helped her a bit in controlling the anxiety. Thank you Paula! It was lovely seeing it from my chair. Those exhaust pipes have left skin souveniers for quite a few of us. :-)
-
GREAT video! Thanks, really enjoying your travels.

Knowing that Paula absolutely hates heights.... Why would you make her drive? Nothing more dangerous than a nervous driver behind the wheel... Add a 100' drop off a cliff and you've got yourself a hell of a predicament....

Well again awesome!! Thanks for sharing. Happy anniversary both of them, 1 year in the van how many married? I knew as soon as Paula was in that shot thumbs up sssuurre!! :) the road was high and bad. When you look up tense / fear that picture is what you see !! My wife is scared of heights funny thing she insists on driving because I'm not, doesn't trust me I guess. Have done the same burn to my nose right on the bridge seemed to take forever to heal came up with all sorts of different stories how it happened to keep it interesting :) Canada National Parks have a yearly pass. It's been 20 + years since I've had one but it would save you a lot with all your travels. $137 and change for a year.
