8. This video has nothing to do with starting a farm and contains completely irrelevant information. Who cares about yearly production costs when LAND is so much more ridiculously expensive? How about learning to establish credit? What loans or subsidies are available for small, first-time farmers? Which states have cheaper agricultural land and which have AG laws more conducive to small family farmers?
   
   SO basically you need a huge pile of cash to pay for the land up front (if you have no credit). And even with decent credit banks probably won't loan to you anyways.

Also search YouTube for videos on these people ('Rebel Farmer' on Sepp Holtzer; 'Restoration Agricuture' by Mark Shepard; there are many videos on Joel Salatin; Holistic Management (though most of the video clips feature large-scale grazing operations on big acreges, Holistic Management principles apply to EVERYTHING); etc. Visit AcresUSA (dot) com & read the free articles on eco-agriculture. Follow your dreams! 
12. Tp make a living & pay the taxes, farmers today must 'think outside the box'. Read: 'You Can Farm' by Joel Satatin; 'Restoration Agriculture' by Mark Shepard; 'Sepp Holtzer's Permaculture, A Guide' by Holtzer (read the Preface on Amazon); 'Holistic Management' by Allan Savory. Small & begining farmers groups, Organic farming groups, etc abound- but only you can decide what works for you on your piece of heaven, ur, I mean 'land'. :) These books will give you the basis to do just that. 
13. What type of place are you looking for? Where in Md? What are your needs? Your goals? Once you have a checklist of features the property 'must have', and your 'wants' & 'would be nice', it will be easier to shop for a farm.
