Edelweiss flowers do NOT grow in the Swiss Alps ONLY, but along the whole Alps range. We have it in Romania too, in the Carpathian Mts. or the Transylvanian Alps, and it is declared as a "Nature Monument"; it's forbidden to pick it ! We call it "Crag Flower" since it grows up on the rocky mountains. Well, I try to grow them at home and didn't succeed...they do not germinate.
@valstar1000 : In Switzerland are spoken 4 official languages (they are mentionned on the national banknotes too) : German, French, Italian and Rhaeto-Romance (refering to the former Roman province of Rhaetia). -
Most of the plants requires a very healthy soil inorder to grow productively and more sturdy. However, teaching us your own tips on growing such plants are very uplifting. Nice job!

I strongly agree that you could best grow different flowers especially in composted soil. Anyhow, extending your tips on how to grow edelweiss flowers challenged me a lot. Thank you for this post!

The bit that really disturbs me is her name is Yolanda. That's a classic Chinese name if ever there was one. That's the China that is in south america. Where they all speak Hungarian. I would hope her parents who gave her that name have as good an understanding of the world as I do.
