Taro or elephant ears prefer full sunlight. They thrive in the tropics provided they have ample water. In the islands, at least once a week, there is a tropical rainful that rains for only 15-20mins, but it is enough rain to provide the whole island with water for the week. I live in NZ and have my own little taro garden. Daily morning drench returns an abundance of beautiful dark green leaves during the week for the Sunday lunch, however I have to keep pruning them as the ears become quite large and in the winter they become dorment. I have never had problems with disease or pests due to the constant pruning.

I think this dude was wasted when they recorded this. Sounds drunk. He should be fired from Showplace.

This is my first season to grow Elephant Ears and I am having a little trouble. I understand that they needs lots of water, but...I live in Arkansas where the summers are pretty hot. One of my bulbs ended up rotting due to too much watering. What is a good rule of thumb for watering. I am losing leaves. They are turning yellow and then wilting. Not sure what I am doing wrong here, but something is a miss.

Thank you! I knew about the shade, sort of knew about the watering, but NOT about the spray and the fertilizer. Just got a new beautiful elephant ear today!
