I was so happy to find an inexpensive source of wood: 6 inch wide cedar fencing. $5.50 bought two boards. I cut off the dog eared ends and screwed them together with exterior screws. For the fall, these boxes are stacked and are filling with compost to create more soil for the spring. I made my soil for my fall/winter boxes (Sacramento, CA is good to grow salad makings all winter) with Coir, compost and chicken manure based on the recipe from Square foot gardening (sustainable).
