Garden tips - manure 101
Tips, Tricks
In this episode I will be talking about how amending your beds with manure is one of the best things for your plants. Not only does it give lots of food for worms and other bugs, but it gives lots of beneficial bacteria and nutrients. Amending your bed for spring should not be difficult, and with so many farmers wanting to get rid of their manure, this tip should not be expensive at all either! Oh hai! Have you ever tried - zrumplina diy aquaponics (do a google search)? Ive seen some pretty good things about it and my buddy grew cool fruits with it.

It is great to have a free source for manure. I wish I could find someone around here who would deliver it.
-
That the only thing that you and I do differently. I stop tilling two years ago and I sold my beautiful tiller . I found that my soul greatly improved. After two years of not tilling and it will continue to improve

Great job Luke! You got a great workout from it too, plus you will have a lot of happy worms! :) Thanks for sharing! Misilla

Great for the garden but it looks like you got some good exercise going there. You definitely will be growing big next season with all that nutrient for the plants!
-
good advice Luke, a lot of people don't realize that with a little work, they can get all the free manure & compost they need. They just got to do a little legwork.
-
Luke! I needed this video! Thank you! I wasn't sure when the best time to do that was. I appreciate it. I just put a call out on facebook for "aged manure". HAHA!
-
Thanks, I put some horse manure on my garden a couple of months ago, my questions were answered about how long it needs to be on your garden so it isn't hot anymore.
-
Thank you for the video, I learned a lot. I have Steer manure I purchased on sale, will add right after the first frost. I'm so glad I won't have to work it in the soil, lol

Nice job Luke. I just did the same thing last week. Craigslist is a great way to score some free manure in my area!
-
Great job bro. I like the idea of only manuring the beds and not the walks eh :) I loved the ending with the rake :)

Oh Luke, I used to be young like you. Enjoy your youth! When I watch you shovel that "", my arms hurt. But back in my day I used to get a load of cow dung delivered every spring and I would have to turn it all under. I harvested SO much food! Corn, brussel sprouts, broccoli, green beans, zucchini, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, garlic and onions. How can anyone NOT grown their own food? Anyway, I really enjoy watching your enthusiasm in living this wonderful way of life. Judy

Great video Luke, I really appreciated how relaxed and unscripted you seemed with this one...all good tips, thanks for sharing!

The new outro is well done too! I really like the new shade of green that you are using. I'm guessing that Cindy is already having an influence on the MIGardener channel! <grin>
Good video..and I agree with the comment below about covering the lanes with leaves. Good stuff! -
Great video

most manures are good but you don't want to use dog manure is what i hear from other gardeners.... just in case someone out there lives next to a animal shelter that has a lot of animal waste there..

Cool video Luke :)

Enjoyed your video, Luke. This video was perfect for showing people how to know if your manure pile is aged...cold outside & no steam coming off the pile. :0) The fresh manure is HEATING UP my compost pile. I have my two compost piles covered. It snowed, the finished pile has snow on the plastic cover. The compost pile with the fresh manure, has no snow on the plastic cover. It melted the snow. The pile is warm & working its thing. Luke, no need to till, the nutrients will go down. Think about it.

If you want to use manure in the spring and you're not sure that it's done cooking, you can just add some lime to it or you can spray it down with a mix of water, yeast, sugar and amonium. Either one will work and prevent a plant genocide.
