Yeah how do u get the seeds?
-
Plant okra right next to ur lettuce for shade
-
the best way is to cut off the outer leafs, and leaf the rest alone.
-
Try 40% shade and it should do well. But the heat is another issue. Lettuce will start to really suffer over 80 degrees.
-
Haha "the leaves you leave"
-
How long until they are mature?
-
Can you then save the seeds to grow the next season?
-
i do this too..

You space is beautiful. Love the harvest. /Thanks for the tip. Question: What happens when you allow the plant to grow to large and it flowers?
-
wow, thats amazing, they look beautiful! Do you have them in shade? Why I ask is I planted about 20 heads of lettuce last fall & they did great, but now in the late spring early summer I'm not so sure in Fl. I've started seedlings inside & now I'm not sure if they can stand this kind of heat. was wondering if anyone has had success with the shade cloths & what % would you use for lettuce in my hot area. Many thanks!!

My dad always said that cutting the lettuce makes it bitter.

Very informative, thank you!

Good tip. I usually only grow a few plants, and I also just pick the outer leaves for a sandwich or salad on an as-needed basis. Works just great.
