I don't understand the 12 dislikes ..this guy is spot on..unless you fancy the other option going round in middle of the night cutting them in half with some scissors ??? another way which is a lot more time consuming is did a small trench with a decent amount of depth to it around all of your garden patch and insert some tubing all around it making sure it can fully hold some liquid (beer) once that is done check all inside the garden patch kill any slugs or snails (or put somewhere out of the way don't have to kill them) then you should be free of slugs

Good video. I moved to Canada from New Zealand in 1999 and had to learn gardening again due to the short yet hot wet summer. I had slugs until I started adding crushed egg shell to my garden to help my tomatoes. In all that time I have never ever seen a snail and I do not even know if they have them here in Alberta. Any slugs I found I would sprinkle salt on them which killed them. This is my first year using the 1 square foot program and so far everything is doing well.

they are eating my greens and I've used Seven Dust several times but it doesn't seem to affect them.

Your methods are good but if the snail infestation is huge, poison works best. (N provided we do not have other things to do. Hehe.).
Snail eggs are laid inside moist ground, near roots, inside coconut husk, wet trunks, planks, rotting foliage ..... almost everywhere.
When the weather is super hot, the snails go into "hibernation" by secreting mucus which then dries up. Thus u can find some shells with "protective door". When rain falls, this layer becomes wet n the snails will start their rampage.
Snails of different species have destroyed my vegetables, flowers n orchids. 😡. Only farmers know how we feel. -

Slugs wrecked half our garden a couple of months back and nothing's stopping them since the little critters breed like heck! My 'Hobbit'-obsessed kid even referred to it as "the Desolation of Slug"...

The best way? Electric Slug Fence (works on 9Volt battery). Search YT for it. 100% effective and lasted all season.

Duck are the best.......we have 3 Indian runners and all they do all day is patrol for slugs and snails. Haven't seen a slug in my garden for 2 years or more. Plus they are a lot of fun to watch and not destructive like chickens.

Grate zucchini and measure into one or two cup portions. Put into a freezer bag and freeze for later use in muffins, quick breads or soups. Nothing better on a frosty morning than freshly baked zucchini, dried cranberry and walnut muffins.

If I have green tomatoes which will not ripen due to the lateness of the season, I make green tomato pies. Just line a pie dish with pastry, slice the tomatoes thinly and use these as a filling for your pie. Sprinkle some sugar and lemon juice over them then add the pastry lid. Cook then when cold, freeze and they can be used throughout the winter heated up with some custard. Lovely!

I sprinkle dried used coffee grounds around the stems of my plants. Slugs' little bellies get scratched by the grounds and they won't cross over them.

Thank you for the information

Have tried the beer in containers and it works great, but never heard of the Citrus peel idea. I'll try that next, since hubby don't like giving his beer to slugs! Thanks for the tips!

slugs ruined my garden this year. next spring, it's war.

Slugs are territorial and when yoiu kill the ones in your veggie garden others will move in. We keep two ducks, which patrol the duck fence around the veggie garden, works great!, and the ducks are fun!
