Garden Apprentice - Wisconsin Garden Video Blog 393
Tips, Tricks
Today we're featuring our neighboring garden apprentice, Alex Becker, who is working on a school service learning project in our Wisconsin Garden as a garden volunteer. She will learn about preparing Lynn's special compost mixture, planting tips and techniques while learning how to effectively plant tomatoes, peppers, onions, leaks, marigolds to ward off bad insects, and alyssum flowers to attract the good companion pollinators.

No, I haven’t. I’ll look for it when I run out of the Liquid Fence we have already. Need something that will last for our Burning Bushes each year; the rabbits chew them down to stumps…. I know what you mean about fighting with the netting. Thanks. Lynn

Thanks, Dee. She was such a delight to have as a helper, ready for work and a sense of humor too. Can’t wait to share the veggies when they start producing. Lynn

Have you ever tried deer or rabbit scram? I've used that now on all the plants preferred by the animals, and it seems like a pinch on each plant seems to be enough as the deer seem to stay away from the general area. It's a border repellant however I put the stuff right on the plants and get it to stick by spraying down the plants with water first. It seems to make it much easier than having to use deer netting all over the place especially since the smell lasts 3-4 weeks.
