Cleome is pronounced \klēˈōmē\. It's Latin so the e at the end is not silent!
Also the correct species name part of the official biological nomenclature is Hasseriana and not hasslerana! -

I firmly disagree about when to plant. I live in New York [Long Island}. I have had hundreds of these in my garden for years. Once I saved the seeds in the shed over winter and planted them in the spring. Not one grew. After that, I plant them in the fall and have more than I know what to do with. I give many seeds and seedlings away every year. They are magnificent.
