Fishing ~ Mulching Garden ~ Homestead Cleanup
Tips, Tricks
Melanie and I went fishing in our new boat and caught dinner for ourselves. I am still mulching the gardens. And we are all still cleaning up the homestead. Melanie and I picked up a free sail boat a while back and never got to try it out. It came without the sail, rudder and weights. Just the hull. That suits us just fine. This is a fiberglass covered foam boat so it really floats nicely. You cannot sink this thing no matter what you do. And boy does it float and glide gently on the water. Just the slightest flick of the oar and the boat is flying across the water. We went out in our private pond and caught ourselves some dinner. Melanie did not want to quiet. And then when we got back to the tiny house she volunteered to not only clean the fish, but to cook them too!!! Later I cleaned up along the old fence line on the edge of the garden to remove all the cardboard and leaves that had gathered up there. Next I started to remove all the rocks I had tossed there during my tilling work the past two years. This was taking a lot of work and Melanie and Chris joined me. We got the job done together. Chris helped me get some mulch and then we put down some landscaping fabric and a layer of mulch along the old fence line. The garden is really starting to look good these days. Thanks for watching. Don't use that for aqua phonics if you have that turtle in the water. Turtles are a high risk for salmonella. Wouldn't want that water anywhere near food. The comets are company for the turtle? You mean food. You may start noticing them disappearing at night. Raccoons like fishing also. Go to Walmart in the gardening area, pick up some freeze dried mealy worms - a bag costs about 6 ot $7. The turtle will love them as a treat.

You could have contacted Salmonella from that Turtle.

I love seeing this progress! Take care xxx

Great job letting Griffiths harass people. I'm about ready to quit watching your channel because you allow him to constantly attack me after I've politely asked him to not contact me. In the real world he'd be in a court room by now, maybe you would too.

Not trying to be negative, but...Those gold fish will die in that tub from the water getting too hot. I'm talking from experience, it happened to me. The tub is too small and the water temps with jump up and down way too fast, which will kill the fish. The water pump will help, but they need a much larger volume of water to keep cool outside in the summer. Goldfish are a cold water fish, not a tropical fish. They can thrive in very cold water just above freezing, but they are much more active and eat much more when the water is above 60F.

The "turtle" is most likely a LAND TORTOISE...please set him free! When I was a kid we had one that lived in our yard. My mom would always go find him before we mowed-and after mowing, would put him back. Sometimes when we think we are doing something good, we are not. Many creatures have died because of our well-meaning "kindness".

Nice to see you take sometime for fun!

You know a lot of people do the mulching thing on pathways but I've always found it frustrating to constantly deal with it, putting new mulch down and keeping it raked up & etc. I finally took all that out and just planted grass seed making sure my pathway was wide enough for one pass of the mower. I like that much better. I'll be interested to see how you think your mulch works out.

I have to say I've come to love this channel over time. I'm quite disappointed in the quality ofrid videos you put out.I do like seeing the input of Melanie and Chris in them. We used to receive almost daily updates on the chickens, the cats, the solar, and what was actually going on. Now we get one a day short video clips on a single project. It really doesn't encompass your life as an off gridder. I can't imagine that you only do one project a day on your property. I'm sorry this is it videos starting to be not worth the time. I'm sorry to post this publicly but I know no other way of doing it.
