First Try at Growing Venus Fly Trap
Tips, Tricks
This is my first time growing a Venus Fly Trap... Follow me on my journey.. So far i have placed the plant still in it's pot in a bowl with stones and distilled water .... make sure the plant stays moist and the humidity stays high.... the plant should naturally attract insects however if it doesn't you can feed it... This will be FUN!!!

You have too many venus flytraps in the pot. I'd separate the bulbs
-
I got mine at Home Depot in the garden center for 7.00$
-
Just wondering, would smart water be good for the plant? XD
-
I am using sink water to older venus fly trap they are not dying
-
I am growing seeds do u have to put them in a test of water and I am using water

Your not supposed to use tap water or BOTTLED water as BOTH of them can hurt your plant because both of them have minerals I witch can hurt the root system...use distilled water only. Use spagnum peat moss for reporting only and put in a sunny window at home... I grow them from seeds all the time it's not that hard

Your wrong it actually dies instantly in direct sun

I laughed when i saw this video! Why does everyone think that they are so hard to grow and so delicate? Get rid of the fish bowl or any other covering and just put it in a tray of rain or distilled water in full sun. The tray is just to keep it continuously moist without you having to water it daily, not for humidity. As long as you don't live in a place with humidity regularly below 30 to 40 percent, it will be fine. They do, after all, naturally grow in North and South Carolina Also if your winters are not too harsh, just leave it out year round. I grow these year round in an in ground bog in Indiana.

don't put them in jar or container just put water at the bottom

i search that black laves are normal :)
-
do you water it in the top of VFT or just in the bowl ? Please reply tnx :)
-
Where to get that ? please reply tnx anyway!! :)

Beautiful ..

Death is normal
After a few weeks the some leaves die and new ones grow -
One thing I've found is that growing them in a large zip lock bag, and breathing into the bag to give some some extra CO2 seems to give them a slight edge. I also have them under lights and heat mat with the largest species that exists, DCXL clone.

I've started using water collected from my dehumidifier for my CP's

Good Luck :) sounds like you know what your doing :)

Distilled water (store bought or from a water distiller) is what I use, and it works AWESOME! I transplanted in rinsed sphagnum peat moss, and rinsed sand- that plant is dying, gonna try to save it by just rinsed peat moss. Got another one too, and gonna wait for growth and new flower formation/color then peat moss transplantation. Good luck to us all!
