Hi there,
after watching your video. i have noticed that you put the clippings in a box of sand and covered it with some sort of trash bag... did you water it often? or was the bag closed for 2 weeks without opening and created the moisture??? btw, I'm here in omaha nebraska. it'll be great help if you can reply..... -
Where is this? I'm pretty sure I live near that house...is it in NY?

the reason I looked at your video was to see how you did your cuttings from the branches...................BUT was disappointed when you fast forwarded it....

The best way to get lilacs is to pull suckers from the edges of the bush. Pre rooted.

What is a lilock? I know lilac is, but you didn't say that.

It looks like it's still very cold. Is this spring or winter? I've done Hydrangeas using ziplocks in warm wheather, but never in winter. The white garbage bag and large tray is a very good idea. I have a Lilac bush, but I certainly would like more Lilac bushes and I have many other type plants I could propagate. This looks like it worked but, if not, you could pull down a branch to the ground on the main bush,(leaving it attached to the main bush) then cover it at ground level with soil and a riock to keep it down, then go back next spring. It will have developed roots under the soil and rock. You can then cut the branch with the roots attached.

Let me re-phrase that, did you pull them out at the root from your Grandmothers or clip them?

Did you pick out the root when you retrieved them at your Grandmother's? Or, did you just clip a bunch of them?
