First time growing Giant pumpkins any tips on how to grow it as big as I can ?
Tips, Tricks
My friend that I am raising the chickens with pre ordered giant pumpkins from hanks farm here On the island so we went to pick them up today as we spent the day going from one green house to another at a few different green houses that are open to the public s. So I decided to grab a couple of these plants. If anyone is watching and has grown these before I would love to get tips and Ideas on what would be the best way to try and grow these

hi i have 2 growing in my 6 x 8 foot greenhouse and after 2 months they have totally taken up all the space. Its like the jungle in there, i feed them nitrogen based fertisliser with really dramtic results and also ordinary tomato plants fertiliser same thing i suppose. You can tell i am no expert but the results and growth have been astounding. I am now at the self pollinating stage which is difficult because the flowers seem to last a day then close up and finding male and female flowers open at the same time is difficult ( strange i know) they require huge amounts of water and will wilt if not getting enough but spring right back when waterer. they do not like any of the baby bio range of products. Beware of slugs and snails they seem to love eating them but some pelletts around there base sorted that problem. If someone can help with my self pollinting problem please feel free to contact me thmml6@inbox.com

I know a thing or two about pumpkins and what I did was I made a plant chart to tell me how much progress they made over the the past few weeks and I also know that they grow best in full sunlight like said on back of the pumpkin seed Packet. and put them in a hill of soil that wAs. Flatend and put one plant and water each day but not everyday because if you do you will kill them because of too much water if this information is helpful send me some soil and pots and I will tell you my a dress over the email

I do know as they grow you need to protect their bottoms! Put something under them to keep them off damp soil to avoid rotting. Like I put straw under my marrows etc. but I expect competition growers have so e sort of frame to allow air to circulate.

There are days when I wish my grandad was still alive! I had no interest in gardening when I knew him.....now....I could use his help!
I am sure he would have said loads of well composted horse manure turned into the prepared spot for your plants, then loads of regular watering.
Good luck.
By the way, I just resubscribed, no I idea why I was unsubscribed, not me? -
Go to bigpumpkins.com lots of info, and experts on daily. And create a diary witch others can see. And you can see there's. Good luck

Only allow the main runner to produce.Snip off any secondary runners. The vines can grow 30 feet and cover a lot of the area so plant them about 20 ft apart. After the bloom is set and you decide which one to keep. Remove all the other pumkins except one per plant. Use a trap to shade the pumpkin as this allows them to remain cool and not be affected by the sun. I don't use any special fertilizers and I get 200 lb pumkins. Just chicken litter and compost. I think it mostly depends on the seed you get or the plant that you start to grow. Some do better than others. Good luck.

Are those GMO pumpkins? If not where were you able to find organic pumpkin plants? I've been trying to find companies that have them.

I'm by no means an expert but I am growing one right now and it is doing real well. If you go to my channel you can see my vids on it. What I recommend is planting it in lots of compost. I actually planted mine on top of a compost pile. The other thing I recommend is having fun with it. They are a blast to grow and their leaves are gigantic and beautiful.
