The most important part of planting seeds is soil contact... press the soil down on the seed or it may not germinate.

All my lettuce seedlings have fallen over! I have followed all your instructions closely so I'm not sure what happened! Does anyone have any idea why my seedlings might be doing this? They were about 2 inches high when it occurred.

Hi! i'm a little late on your video series on planting. Now that it is September in Georgia is it too late to start planting indoors? Also I don't have a garden to transfer the plants to once they get too big. Can I just transfer them to a bigger pot?
-
Can the peat pellets be reused if seeds don't germinate?
-
starting seeds indoors definately works as a back up plan or even first plan, I have found that seeds in the ground will be stronger and more vigorous than indoor plants depending on different elements like weather and soil but sometimes indoor plants start strong and become weak in comparison to seeds started outdoors in the dirt, best to let go and try both methods.

Thanks Kim this is my first instructional video on planting seeds. I love basil too, especially in bruschetta, along with garlic, tomatoes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
-
Thanks a bunch! Really appreciate it!
Any chance instead of clipping seedlings to harden could they be replanted? -
Thank you for these amazing series!
First time I'm doing this. I have a few questions:
I may have ripped the netting around the jiffy pallets. Will this be an issue?
Also, accidentally planted bell peppers after I had planted oregano in about 12 pallets. Any idea what results will be?
I followed your examples with the trays and have 5 trays with about 130 pallets. Planted 15 different types of vegetables in 2 rows each. You think that's too much? I have lots of space and focused on types i Coyote freeze or can.

First thing I have to say the is I love your videos I'm a big fan. But my Q is. What am I doing wrong my basil and mix lettuce seedlings are dying. I have a soil that seems to stay moist all the time and im not sure when to water. How can I stop them for all dying? Or if I start over what should I do. Thank you so much. :-)

Hello! I have an emergency seedling situation! My seeds sprouted but became very long because I didn't put them in the sun. (They were in their greenhouse)... They grew very tall and some are lanky. For some reason I thought I had to wait until they got adult leaves to put them out in the sun. Is there anything I can do to save them? When should they have gone in the sun? Right when they sprouted? I have a south facing window so I put them on the window sill. Is it too late for them?

I always had the most difficult time sprouting any capsaicin type seed :(

After harvesting a basil on New Years Eve, Some of the stems were saved and are now growing little plants (it was an experiment). Lemon basil was planted at the same time and its growing like weed. It depends upon the type of basil because sweet basil is short and bushy while the lemon basil is thin and very tall (need to top it to encourage other growth).
I never had much success with starting seeds indoors until this year with a more controlled grow station on a timer with decent lighting. The soil I am using also has microryza included, could be part of the difference. Also working with lettuce in rockwool for a hydroponic experiment. -
how long are we going to leave them in the pellets? before we plant them out in the garden.

Hello! I have the same peat pellets as you, and I am growing tomatoes. As of right now I'm growing them in a bright windowstill(though it hasn't been to sunny) and I was wondering if I should put them in my miniature green house instead? Thanks! BTW i have only been growing them since February 8 +CaliKim29 Garden & Home DIY

Every when should the kale and lettuce be watered please?
Thanks! -
Hi! My lettuce seeds have germinated all. I Compare mine to yours and they are a little weak. I put them in my balcony morning sun and during the afternoon they receive the normal light I have to hide between my plants because it is windy. I keep watching over them. Thanks for your advise.

It's wonderful that you're doing this series. Even though this will technically be my third garden this year, I'm watching just in case you have some info for me that I didn't know before :D This year I'm going all out. Last year I had four different vegie plants growing and one watermelon plant. But this year I have planned out 14 different veggies (of many different varieties) and 3 different melon types. wish me luck!! I've never done a garden this big before but I don't want to have to go to the super market for ANYTHING this year except refrigerated items and toiletries hahaha

Kim this is a great introduction series to starting your first garden !

Hi Kim, what kind of kale do you plant? I want a variety that is good to put in shakes but I've never grown it before

This is such a fun series! Looking forward to the next.
