Great Video! Will this help keep things like hornworms off tomatoes too?
-
I just pulled about a dozen of those evil green inchworms off my kale! My biggest plant got CHOWED ON today. I'm so sad. I am trying the eggshell trick, fingers crossed!!!!!
-
Did it work?
-
Thanks for these awesome tips.
I generate tons of egg shells. ;-) -
Hi, I have been watching your videos for tips to improve my green fingers and plants. And boy did they help me. I do have one question about an effective way to keep aphids out. Tried many ways but no results.
-
I only use egg shells for calcium previously. And today i spot a caterpillar munch on my lettuce seedlings. about seven are totally munched off. gonna use this trick tomorrow..ah, so frustrating.
-
The worms are going to love them too. Worms require calcium to be healthy. Adding some to your compost pile is a good idea too.
-
I'm glad you brought up eggshells. I have a question on a different matter.
Its been advised that "bone meal" be applied to the tomato hole when planting. Do the eggshells supply basically the same nutrients? thanks. -
Thanks for the tip. It is what I use in my garden as well. Nothing better than free.
-
Wish I had a 1/4 ton of eggshells. Quantity has a quality of its own.
-
Are eggshells good for all types of vegetable seedlings or are there any that could be damaged from the calcium?
-
Thank you for the great tip!

I am going to start a new garden, but I have lawn. Should I dig up and cut out the grass? In the area I will use or is there an alternative?
-
Those eggshells are also an available source of calcium for the plants too, great idea Kim thanks for sharing
-
Hey Kim. I don't eat that many eggs. Do you believe some handfuls from a cheap bag of play sand (silica) would have a similar effect as the sharp egg shells? thanks!
-
Good idea. They don't like ashes either and I have plenty of them. My lettuce is doing fabulous here got some romanus heading up, some Simpson, others too. Lettuce grows good up here in the foothills. Won't be long here either I think, it was 75-80 in the valley today, I was working down in Marysville and it felt like summer almost. I sowed some spring crop several weeks back, all getting ready to thin or transplant, don't think I'll bother with the brassica and such, it'll just want to seed up. I'll get decent on my lettuce but that's about it. Hell I'm already thinking on melons and squash, started some actually. Thanks.

Kim, nice vid.
I have always crushed up the shells a lot smaller and the added used coffee grounds to them, plus it seems to keep away the cats.. Cat poop is not good in the garden.
Hey C.G., It's time for a "crawler cam", ... snails, slugs and earwigs type stuff...
