Much thanks for providing the info about the PatchMaster, never saw that product yet until your video.

Jake, some would argue that you are compacting the soil with your fork, especially when you are rocking it back and forth. It would compact your soil less if you wouldn't rock the fork back-n-forth. For your high traffic area where your lawn suffered, it would be preferable if you would "plug aerate" the section. They sell manual foot pluggers, here is a couple of links : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QZ5IMY/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw_c_x_2 and a push behind aerator wich creates small compaction but is better than a rocking fork : https://www.amazon.com/Agri-Fab-45-0365-16-Inch-Spike-Aerator/dp/B0007VTQRK/ref=lp_3480687011_1_11?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1478072913&sr=1-11

Jake, I believe you are pointing us in the wrong direction calling your rake a thatching rake,I bought myself a real thatching rake this summer, here is the link: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ames-19-Tine-Adjustable-Thatch-Rake-2915100/204476215

good info on reseeding I do think you seeded way to heavy and yes I know "Thrower Down grass seed is cheap" Allyn has great information and knows a great deal, but I don't agree with him on the seeding. all that seed will germinate at roughly the same time and will be completing for the limited water and nutrients in the top 1/4 inch of soil, because it has no root system and as they say only the strong will survive so much will die off in the first few weeks. You will get better results if you seed normally and add Phosphorus lightly after the first cut. then after 3 cuts do another seeding of the area to thicken it up.

Jake do you play golf?
