We're giving winter gardening a try. Here in the Colorado Rockies we're putting in beets, kale, spinach, collards & lettuce. Our shade cloth is up now as it's burning hot. Liable to change at a moments notice, Our plastic cover is ready to go. We'll let you know how it turns out.

I searched on Google for my area (Saginaw County Michigan) and have not been able to find such a handy calendar. It seems like there would be one somewhere. Good resource for those that can find one. We are planning to expand our garden and stretch our gardening season.

Good information. I have been using these for the last year or so. They are a great reference but not the rule. Play around with planting dates and always write down what you did so you will know if it was a success or failure. I would also recommend searching Google for average frost dates by zip code. A lot of stuff is recommend by frost dates so having that info is very handy.

Last year I used my local planting guide for carrots. None of my gardening friends have ever been able to grow carrots because they plant them the Spring. I plant them mid Fall and leave them till early spring. I have great carrot harvest by following the ag extention guide and forgetting about the days till harvest time on the back of the seed package. So what my carrots are in the ground 5 months till I harvest. They taste great.
