cute guy ..

You repeated yourself like 10x
-
so you just let them grow up right next to eachother?

Re: genes... "Recessive" is the opposite of dominant.
-
The word you're looking for in terms of an 'indominant' gene is 'recessive'. No worries, your message came through loud and clear anyway.
-
So you planted the seeds of the cross-pollinated bell/jalapeno? what's the longevity of the cross-breed?
-
you should grow your hair out like this again, you look like one of those superstars here.
-
Awwww!! 😊. I love this! Watching you grow and master your craft before our eyes. I love your work. 👍😉
-
Love this. Also, petition to add "indominant" to the English language. 😆

Hello there young Luke! Lol!! It's so fun to watch people's old videos. BTW, this is pretty ingenious! Very tempting to try. :D

Ok, coming from a plant biology background I can tell what you are trying to say here. The problem with what you are saying, like in mendel's pea experiment. This has to be done in a HUGE scale to actuallly get exactly what you are shooting for. With peppers specifically, when you cross-pollinate, the first hybrid seeds almost always come out hot. After that generation, then you start getting the more 75/25 dispersal of alleles. You talked about the shorter plant, the branching, the size of pepper, these are all things that CAN be influenced through the crossing, but you will not be surely getting all of the things you want on 1 cross with 1 resulting plant, if by some chance you do I suggest you buy a lottery ticket tommorrow. To stabilize a cultivar you need 5 successive generations of little to no variation. This is done by cross pollination, observation, self pollination of the resulting seeds, and then tweaking from there. As for the certified organic/heirloom stuff, absolutely does not need to be either.heirloom simply means the cultivar has been unchanged for a long period, usually about 100 years. Aslong as it is not a GMO that specifically has the termination gene added or a sterile hybrid, it will work just fine. All in all good video, but I warn those trying it on your own, be prepared to put time into this you're almost certain to have at least a few failures before you get your success.

You look so young in this one....lol
-
How did you get your bell pepper so big? I keep raising midgets.

Where can one find info on gene traits for plants?
-
I'm a self professed newb, and recently subscribed. I get the cross pollination concept, I'm just a visual person and don't quite understand the cross pollination technique with the q-tip (or vibrating toothbrush as suggested as well) anyone have a link to a how to video WHILE they're doing the cross pollinating?
By the way Luke, don't hate on yourself for sounding "stupid" it was 4 years ago, you were a kid. -
Very clever young man. If you ever sell seeds from your hybrids, pm me; I want some!!!
-
these things must need a lot of sunlight?
-
Does the way you self pollinated your cucumbers work for tomatoes and bell peppers ?
-
That word you were groping for ... alleles are either dominant or recessive. When you said indominant, you are really describng the recessive allele.

This is a good experiment on peppers but i would like to offer advice. Peppers are self fertile. Meaning the male and female parts of the flower are contained withing itsself. Now before the flower bud opens you are able to flick and tap the little bud.. gently! . Lol. This helps the flower pollenate itself before it opens. With that said sometimes not all the flowerbuds on my plants produce and fruit after blooming. So by manully pollinating like you said is a great idea. Now the next step is to plant the seeds from the cross polinated peppers. These next generation of seeds will show the cross traits in one way or another. Of course showing the dominant traits. The peppers and plants that originally cross polinated will not show crossed traits. Its like humans and kids showing traits of parents. You must wait for the next generation of seeds.. anyways.. i would love to see the results of this regardless. I love your idea.. im definatly going to try it . I look forward to seeing the video on the taste test. Keep up the good videos. Thumbs up 😉
