All I did was take the seeds out of the fruit, wash them, wrap them in a paper towel, put the paper towel in a clear plastic container with a clear lid on a sunny window and in 1-2 weeks they sprouted:) it's much cheaper:)

I was in Malta in 1988 and 2007. I cant remember which time it was but I saw someone selling potatoes while I was on a balcony and thought they were "Kiwi Fruit" and when I asked family/friends if they were selling Kiwi fruit none of them knew what I was talking about, like I was insane and making things up as a joke.

There's a problem with this idea - kiwifruit plants are either male or female and you need both to set fruit and you won't know what you have until about 3 years later when they've grown into large vines and then produce different flowers. Only females will fruit. I'm a scientist and one of my jobs is to test thousands of kiwifruit seedlings every year for their gender using a DNA test. Most of the males are then discarded and the females planted in orchards. Obviously this is not possible for the casual home grower so planting kiwifruit vines is like hatching chicken eggs - you may end up with just males and you won't know until years down the road. If you plant lots of plants, you should get about 50% females and can cut most of tree male plants out once they start to fruit. That might be acceptable but if you can only plant two plants, it's a lottery.

Kiwifruit plants take 4-7 years to bear fruit from seed. I have about 9 plants that are 4 years old in aquaponics. The plants are in a 500ltr filled with small scoria. Enormous vines that we cut back each year in late autumn. Here's hoping for fruit this year.....

Open the Kiwi. Remove all the seeds. Get a colander/strainer with a very fine screen. Go to sink and use sprayer to wash of pulp. Put half an inch of growing medium in a tray. Throw your seeds onto the soil mix. Cover with some growing medium just enough to blanket all the seeds. put your tray into a large sealable plastic baggie. Put in warm place and keep moist. I used this method three weeks ago and I already have half a dozen sprouts.

You have to have a female and male to produce. It's seems the female leaves are much smaller and have a bit of red while the male is green and tries to grab at the female with his long tendril vine. lol
-
You have two males there in the pot actually. ;)
-
Thank you! You made it sound so simple.
