Hello! Please tell me, what substrate are you using for planting Japanese maple in a pot? You add the vermicompost to the substrate? After winter died acer palmatum beni-maiko, sadly. For transplants purchased from the Netherlands seedlings Japanese maple, what substrate do you recommend? What better recommend, to transplant along with the soil from the transport pot or remove the ground, washed the roots and then replant a maple in landless substrate?

Hello, sorry to bother you. I just brought a 2 year Japanese bonsai for my mother. But I am completely new and would you mind answering a dew questions? Should I plant it in a nursery pot and keep it indoor or outdoor? And should it be place in a shaded area or (sun)lighted area? And during the winter/late fall, should I bring it inside if I am to place it outdoor, considering it still pretty young. And if you don't mine, just any tips I can uses? Thank you and sorry to bother you>.<!

Bonsai can be simple as a tree planted in a pot. With your knowledge and your creativity you can train it to be a natural tree form or into a complex living art. The work of bonsai never going to be done. Happy Bonsai to You.

I just bought a Japanese maple today, ready to plant, red leaves, looks lush, only about a foot and a half tall, is it as simple as repotting into a bonsai pot and that's it done? Apart from pruning once in a while obviously

You are welcome.

I usually cut 1/3 the the tall branches back and watch it grow out , then cut back again to the size that I like . This way it will shoot out more low branches.1/3 I mean counting from the stem above the grafting section. Remove any new grow from below the grafting section. Look at the scar on the tree. It will tell you where is the grafting was begun. With Japanese Maple slowly and take your time to prune them is best. Over prune you could lose the plant. Happy Gardening to You.
