Photos taken showing the growth of my Dwarf Sensation sunflower growing from seed. Grown in a 22cm wide (8.6 inch) wide self watering pot, the maximum height the plant reached was 48cm (19 inches). I thought this video may be of interest to anyone interested in growing a sunflower from seed. Note, that that it needed a lot of water; at full size I had to water it every second day - it only took two days for the plant to empty the pot's water reservoir. The only bugs that attacked it were leaf miners - one day I noticed fine dots on every leaf, which must have hatched and become leaf miners. I used a garden spray to kill most of them, but also killed them simply by squashing them (squeezing the leaf where I saw the grubs mining). At the end I''ve added a few photos of some of my other flower plants that have grown well this year, for anyone considering the type of plants to grow on their balcony.
