Dota 2 ecko Coaching 2.1K NAGA - How to farm a fast radiance, illusion micro tricks
Tips, Tricks
I'm ecko, a 6.5k player with some competitive DoTA experience and a lot of competitive experience in other video games. This is a pretty unique session, as I don't get heroes like Naga requested very often. We covered how to get the most out of freefarm lanes and optimal illusion micro. Thanks very much for all the vids, so glad I stumbled upon this channel - it helps a ton!
I've got a few questions that have been eating away at me since I first started playing Naga though;
Since Naga is one of my favourite heroes, I really have been wondering for a while about the pre-radiance items, and as if I wasn't unsure enough in 6.86, now we have new items in 6.87. Well, at least she got buffs to make up for it...
So since one of the biggest things in dota is efficiency, so I guess we need to do whatever we can so that we can spend as little gold but get as much value out of early game items so that we get that quick radiance. But there's so many of them, and they really add up in price, don't they? I mean, Stout/Poor Man's, Aquila, Bottle, Quelling Blade, and Brown Boots are the items I've seen Purge suggest as pre-radiance. But in 6.86 got more complicated - now we've got the iron talon, which builds from quelling blade. Fast junglers can come out of the jungle so fat with that thing it's crazy. Naga isn't a jungler, but she kind of transitions into one after you get the pre-radiance items, since she's in the jungle with 2 illusions and the last one is in lane getting last hits. Naga's 320 base movement speed is pretty good, so maybe skimp out on boots and get iron talon till radiance, then sell the talon for boots? If you go for runes and skirmishes though, you won't get full value out of the item since you won't be able to use it every time it's off cooldown, so maybe just stick with boots to get your illusions from camp to camp faster? In that case, shouldn't you get a wind lace to help out even more with that? Your illusions run around so fast it's ridiculous lol.. And as for the arcane boots, I've seen Bren of BrenDota be kind of unsure of whether you should buy them, and Purge on the other hand doesn't buy them. Again, the expenses start to add up if I'm up against early-game molesters like a Bristleback and Undying aggro dual lane or Venge and Wraith King - if I've only got one support, those guys chainstun me halfway to hell every time I try to last hit, and my radiance gets delayed because of it.
As for support/roaming Naga, I used to love maxing net since it gives you more time to hit the guy with whomever you're ganking, so I feel like attack-moving makes the net more valuable than maxing riptide instead... but now 6.87 totally left me in the dark.. Your illusions gain the Orb of Venom proc, so you can basically slow someone indefinitely. Wind Lace seems good cuz you're already pretty fast, so it might help you get one extra attack in when chasing? And Blight Stone.. well, even more minus armor. In cases like these I don't know what to do - do you capitalize on the strengths of your hero, turning them into super-strengths, or do you get items to make up for areas in which you're lacking? There's a million ways you could go about her early game ganking build... Blight stone, value point in riptide and max net for 5 seconds of hitting the guy with -4 armor? Or do you instead get orb of venom, max riptide with a value point in net for more minus armor? Getting both seems a bit overkill, since they don't give any stats.. do you really need a slow with orb of venom, I mean... she has a net. I'm leaning towards paying 300 gold for the equivalent of 2 extra points in riptide, and instead put those 2 points into net, for 2 extra seconds of attack-moving when chasing. This also lets me get in front of them, so I could body block them when they try to run away. It seems to be more reliable... the only qualm I have is that obviously the damage from riptide also goes up when you scale it, so I'm missing out on that. What do you even do now omg all these new items... should you even go for diffusal anymore on roaming naga? What about echo sabre + shadow blade and just go around smacking people from invis and then following up with net and getting a bunch of damage on them? Is naga the new slark :O? I know that sounds crazy, but you can play serious head games with illusions and force your opponents into really bad places, and having a shadow blade means you can make sure that happens since you can get as close as you want to them. Plus silver edge got buffed like hell, so she can get lateish mid-game stats from there. I mean, you wouldn't need to worry about mana thanks to the echo sabre, but she doesn't have a crit or anything for her to get maximum full value out of the passive of echo sabre, so maybe not? Then again it's kinda like riki, whom you get echo on because it's all about killing someone as fast as you can while they're in the smoke, and keeping them there.. isn't it similar with naga? Killing someone as fast as you can while they're under net? And again, how do you skill build/item build her if you want to roam for kills... orb/wind lace/blight stone and how many points in riptide vs. net? -
AWESOME videos, man! Thanks for posting on Dotabuff, otherwise I would never catch you. Keep it up
