Donna's Gardens - Vegetable Garden Tour June 15, 2012, Blanching & Freezing Kale
Tips, Tricks
The garden is doing great! The weather has been rather mild and the spring veggies are doing well. I harvested some Winterbor Kale and included a quick video on how I froze it for use later this year. I have a problem infecting my tomatoes plants! Yikes! I show the problem and I think I have figured out what is going on....we shall see! I hope it does not spread throughout the garden. Suggestions and tips appreciated. :) Borage...what a great companion plant to attract bees to the garden! Thanks to the subscriber who recommended it. Please leave a comment if you were the subscriber...I am having trouble finding who to give credit! :)

Thanks so much! It is a Sony 9.1 Mega Pixel Cyber Shot digital camera. I liked this particular one because of the zoom capabilities, even though the pixel was low.

Hi D, Your garden is flourishing... great video... I'm wondering what type of camcorder you are using? Take Care, Candy

My goodness that is hot! I miss growing tropical varieties of tomato plants from when I lived in Florida.

My Italian Oregano did fine in a container, next to the house. My Greek Oregano did fantastic in the ground. However, my winter was not too cold, and rather mild this past year. I have not grown Sweet Marjoram ... yet that is... :))
-
I have started using Pyretherin for insect problems and it works great! It is derived from the Chrysanthemum,
-
Use Neem oil.

Hey, Donna - didn't know you are in zone 6b as well :) Since you are, I have a question for ya. Does your Italian oregano and Sweet Marjoram overwinter outside well for you ?
-
Everything is looking nice! My cucumber plants have the same kind of damage but a little more extreme, taking out whole leaves. I think its from some kind of small flying insect that lands on the leaf and drains its fluid, not sure tho. btw this is my metal detecting channel my gardening channel is chrisgrowingorganic : P I subbed to you with both accounts so I wouldn't miss a video :)

Hi Donna love your videos! My garden is taken off its great! I think I have a sunflower finally growing.. take a look.... I looked up my zone lol were the hottest it seems Zone 9b: 25F to 30F our heat can get up to 120 at times so watering twice to even three times a day is vital. at the moment it get up to 102-108 which is HOT and I water twice daily. but my veggies are growing beautifully. Ill be adding more beds soon. happy gardening
