Great video, You mention clay soil... Apparently you have done a bang up job of amending it. Here in Dallas, my soil looks like clay we used to play with as kids.

I want to transfer my daylillie to another garden as I am adding landscaping and will not be able to keep daylillie. Will it be successful to transfer plant in beginning of August? I live in midwest.

Not how I do it. I take a sharp spade and cut the clump in half while it's still in the ground and then dig out the half while leaving the other half in the ground. The removed half can now be immediately replanted or halved again or even quartered depending on how many fans you have. A lot easier then digging out those "monster" clumps! You cannot hurt daylilies. I leave my clumps in a tub of water for a few hours and allow the dirt to completely dissolve around it. Then you can prune the roots and pull out any weeds/grasses that are tangled in the roots very easily. I've left them out of the ground for several days w/o any ill effects. The perfect garden plant in my opinion and I grow LOTS of them!!!

The table is a common plastic bench top available from many wholesale garden suppliers with pvc pipe legs.

Really enjoyed your informative video! Did you also design the table?

Super video, Stu! Dividing clumps that size always seems somewhat akin to Sumo wrestling but you made it look easy : -) It would surely be nice if all of us who have to do this had such a super washing table and dividing knife ( I've broken several "regular" knives when trying to divide daylilies.) Loved seeing your garden again - what a showplace. Thanks for sharing.
